«From childhood up I had deeply read in novels of the Strugatsky Brothers. I had read virtually everything, but exactly the „Inhabited Island“ had passed by me that time. Therefore, as Alexandr Rodnyansky offered me this script I was very happy to plunge into the realm of this literature again. In our movie, an absolutely new material world is thought out and implemented, thereat being elaborated in small things — up to costume details. And, according to our feelings, this movie could become not only a subject of fashion or current interest, but form the fashion and create the style, as it will declare a lot of new things — unusual shades, trends of clothing style, indoor scenes, vehicles, etc».
